Lecture: Challenge of a Journey to the End of the World – Argentina
Saturday, 06 January 2007
In the far south of the American continent, between the slopes of the Andes, the Amazon jungle, the Atlantic Ocean and the South Pole, there lies Argentina. A country of national parks, glaciers, nature reserves, a country of gourmet dishes and the best wine on the planet, a country of turbulent and violent history, a country of hyperinflation, football, and southern melancholy that the world has come to know as the Tango.
The lecture will be held at the Vuckovic Music School Grand Hall on Monday, January 15, 2007, at 8pm.
The lecture will be given by Veljko Vukasovic, a tanguero who spent more than 7 months travelling round Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, and Chile. We invite all lovers of the tango and Argentina to come to this fascinating and valuable journey. A rich choice of photographs made by the lecturer in his travels will accompany the lecture. Following the lecture, there will be a milonga until 11pm.

BTA at the 9th Educational Forum
Friday, 01 December 2006
On invitation of the College of Music, the Belgrade Tango Association took part in the 9th Educational Forum on 01 December at the Grand Hall of the Chancellor’s Building of the University of Art. The forum offered lectures on movement in dance. A lecture on tango culture and movement held by BTA tango instructors Dragan Mikić and Jelena Bešević excited keen interest among professors and students of the College of Music who participated in a tango workshop. The main topics of the workshop were tango as a social phenomenon of the 20th century and its impact on contemporary art and culture, and movement from improvisation to dance. The workshop presented the history of tango, development of tango music and dance, and its participants were given a taste of the freedom of movement in tango, taking spontaneously their first tango steps. The Belgrade Tango Association will maintain its cooperation with cultural institutions with the aim of promoting tango in Belgrade and it would like to acknowledge its gratitude to the College of Music for its interest and invitation.
