HARMONIA - Tango Drama, Madlenianum 13th of February at 21.00
Monday, 22 January 2007
BELGRADE TANGO ASSOCIATION, BELTANGO QUINTETO and BA TANGO ZAVOD LJUBLJANA
together with MADLENIANUM Opera&Theatre, presents a co-production of

HARMONIA

HARMONIA is a drama, where Argentine Tango is used as a language

Argentine tango has been chosen because of the emotional value of dance and also its visual artistic elements. Realistic on one hand, and symbolist on the other, the tango creates modern type of love story with stereotyped elements of a love drama.

The story is based on the relationship between a man and a woman. Their ideal images of the partner are slowly pushing them straight to the hell. Only when confronted with their deepest fears, illusions disappear and the space for real love and harmony is created.

The script was written by the well known Slovenian script-writer and author Tomaž Letnar.

The performance choreographers and performers are Andrea Podlogar and Blaž Bertoncelj, experienced and popular tango dancers. Their achievements include the title of world champions in Argentine tango, an extraordinary performance in the capital of Argentine tango Buenos Aires and two previous tango creations Tango Prohibido and Tango E-motion.

Harmonia is unique tango creation, and they will be performing to the live music of one of the most popular tango music orchestra in the Europe, quintet Beltango. The performance will include the groups latest original Tango music, composed by several Serbian and foreign composers.

Lecture: Challenge of a Journey to the End of the World – Argentina
Saturday, 06 January 2007
In the far south of the American continent, between the slopes of the Andes, the Amazon jungle, the Atlantic Ocean and the South Pole, there lies Argentina. A country of national parks, glaciers, nature reserves, a country of gourmet dishes and the best wine on the planet, a country of turbulent and violent history, a country of hyperinflation, football, and southern melancholy that the world has come to know as the Tango.
The lecture will be held at the Vuckovic Music School Grand Hall on Monday, January 15, 2007, at 8pm.
The lecture will be given by Veljko Vukasovic, a tanguero who spent more than 7 months travelling round Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, and Chile. We invite all lovers of the tango and Argentina to come to this fascinating and valuable journey. A rich choice of photographs made by the lecturer in his travels will accompany the lecture. Following the lecture, there will be a milonga until 11pm.
