On invitation of the College of Music, the Belgrade Tango Association took part in the 9th Educational Forum on 01 December at the Grand Hall of the Chancellor’s Building of the University of Art. The forum offered lectures on movement in dance. A lecture on tango culture and movement held by BTA tango instructors Dragan Mikić and Jelena Bešević excited keen interest among professors and students of the College of Music who participated in a tango workshop. The main topics of the workshop were tango as a social phenomenon of the 20th century and its impact on contemporary art and culture, and movement from improvisation to dance. The workshop presented the history of tango, development of tango music and dance, and its participants were given a taste of the freedom of movement in tango, taking spontaneously their first tango steps. The Belgrade Tango Association will maintain its cooperation with cultural institutions with the aim of promoting tango in Belgrade and it would like to acknowledge its gratitude to the College of Music for its interest and invitation. |

Petar Marić is one of the youngest members of the Belgrade Tango Association and the orchestra leader of “Tango Juventud” youth orchestra. He is in the second grade “Dr Vojislav Vučković” Secondary Music School and studies the accordion with Professor Aleksandar Nikolić. At the Coupe Mondiale held in Norwegian town of Asker, near Oslo, he achieved a tremendous success by winning Junior Coupe Mondial. He was declared winner by a ten-member international jury amid tough competition and after two demanding rounds. He performed among candidates of up to 18 years of age which his makes success so much the greater as he has just turned 16.
The Coupe Mondiale is the most eminent international competition for accordionists which is traditionally held under the auspices of the Confédération International des Accordéonistes (CIA). We congratulate Petar on this tremendous success and we wish him a brilliant career.

Members and friends of the Belgrade Tango Association spent the last weekend enjoying unforgettable tango events with their friends from Bulgaria. The occasion for this trip was magnificent indeed, as Sofia was privileged to host one of the greatest wizards of tango, the unrivalled Pablo Veron. He first introduced himself to the public as a choreographer and dancer in a tango performance based on Ibsen’s Ghost. That night, Ghost fused with tango into TANGHOST. Naturally, Pablo’s performance was marvelous and memorable, and tango lovers and tangueros could attend a two-day tango workshop and become acquainted with his skills as a teacher of tango. Belgrade tangueros made good use of this long weekend by attending two milongas in Sofia and so they renewed the traditionally good relations between Sofia and Belgrade tango scenes.
Congratulations
