Multi Cultural Festival Tango Events
Trio of events with colectivo29, Sat 14 – Sun 15 Feb 2009 Colectivo29 are a vibrant, adventurous quintet featuring some of Australia's finest musicians. A variation on the classic Nuevo Tango quintet, Colectivo29 take the timeless music of Buenos Aires and give it a sound distinctively from Melbourne. New arrangements of classic Tango repertoire, lesser known compositions from Argentinian maestros and original tunes all combine producing a post-Piazzolla, post-2001 economic crash mix of passionate and intense music. www.colectivo29.com Saturday afternoon, 14 Feb, 3pm TBC (1 hour) Multicultural Festival Carnival Mini Milonga, Garema Place Colectivo29 will play tango music on the big stage, while we have a mini milonga on the adjacent dance floor. Latin American food & drinks will be available at nearby stalls. FREE Saturday evening, 14 Feb, 8pm-late Diamand Hotel, New ActonJoin us for a performance and milonga with Melbourne’s favourite tango band, colectivo29. DJ tango music will also be provided between brackets. Dancing to both live and DJ music is compulsory! FREE for dancers. Sunday evening, Street Theatre, 8pm Performance by colectivo29 with dance display. More details coming soon. |
